Clarification Text on the Protection and Processing of Personal Data

Association of Bringing Meaning to Life believes that the protection and privacy of personal data is the fundamental right of individuals and works to protect your security. For this reason, in order to fulfill the disclosure obligation of our association pursuant to Article 10 of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data No. 6698 (“Personal Data Protection Law” or “KVKK”), we provide you with some information regarding the use and protection of your personal data. We would like to provide information about your rights under this scope.

General Scope of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, we are referred to as the “Data Controller” of the Association of Bringing Meaning to Life. Within the scope of KVKK, we, as the Data Controller, carry out certain operations that can be considered as “data processing”, such as obtaining, recording, storing, updating, classifying, sharing with or transferring your personal data to third parties permitted by the legislation, in accordance with the legislation.

What is the Legal Basis for Collecting Personal Data by the Association of Bringers of Meaning to Life?​

Personal data belonging to the 3rd person who donates to the Association of those who add meaning to life, who apply for workshops, training participation, employment and volunteering organized by the Association of those who add meaning to life, are collected through other channels and are covered by Articles 5 and 6 of the KVKK, according to the purpose of processing. It is processed in accordance with all applicable legislation within the borders of the Republic of Turkey.

Why and What We Use Your Personal Data For

The Association of Bringers of Meaning to Life uses the data it collects to make announcements to you, the data owner, and to develop appropriate content for you. During your application to events such as training, workshops and when you donate to the Association of Those Who Add Meaning to Life, if you give your consent for us to contact you through various communication tools (text message, e-mail, etc.), we, as the Association of Those Who Add Meaning to Life, will receive updates, event announcements, classroom practices from the association. We use the registration form application called Google Forms provided by Google for the applications for events such as workshops and training organized by the Association of those who add meaning to life, and for other events that require application organized under the association of those who add meaning to life. How Long Do We Keep Your Personal Data?

If you apply to become a member and become a member of the Association of Those Who Add Meaning to Life, we keep your information indefinitely within the scope of the Associations Law No. 5253 (“Associations Law”). In case of resignation from membership, since the information provided during registration is included in the member registry within the scope of the Associations Law, the said data continues to be stored.

We keep the information of our regular donors until the date the donor status expires. If you make a one-time donation, we keep your information for one year and then destroy it.

In case of applying to events such as workshops and training through the Site, we offer applicants the option to receive announcements from the Association of Those Who Add Meaning to Life. If you accept this option, we will keep your information until you, the data subject, contact us that you do not want to receive notifications. If you declare that you do not want to receive announcements, we destroy your information.

If you apply for a position or volunteer at the Association for Life Makers, a maximum of two years, for a period necessary to facilitate the hiring process, to notify you of new positions that match your interests or profile, and in both cases, unless your continued interest is reconfirmed. We keep it for years. If you are an accepted candidate for the job, we retain your information as part of your employee file for the period of your employment plus 5 years following your termination date.

At the end of the retention period, we may anonymize your information in an aggregated form to help us understand past visitor behavior and improve the Site. Your Personal Data will be stored for a longer period of time, if required by law or court decision, and/or to the extent necessary for defense or legal claims, in accordance with the relevant legislation.

With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Data and Why?

As the Association of Bringers of Meaning to Life, we do not share your Personal Data with third parties and institutions without your explicit consent in accordance with Article 8 of the KVKK. However, we may transfer your Personal Data without your explicit consent, in some exceptional cases stipulated in Article 8 of the KVKK. As an example of the exceptional cases in question, certain personal data status information may be given, along with situations clearly envisaged in the laws, vital necessity, contractual obligation, fulfillment of a legal obligation (for all exceptional cases, see article 8 of the KVKK). .

The Association of Bringers of Meaning to Life will comply with the applicable local laws regarding your Personal Data and will, in any case, make every effort to ensure that your Personal Data is subject to the same protection as it was prior to the transfer. If your Personal Data becomes subject to a different privacy policy, Life Maker Association will notify you of such change in accordance with applicable local laws.

What are your rights arising from the Personal Data Protection Law?

As personal data owners, if you submit your requests regarding your rights to us through the methods set out below in this Clarification Text, the Association of Bringers of Meaning to Life will endeavor to finalize the request as soon as possible, depending on the nature of the request. Accordingly, in accordance with Article 11 of the KVKK, personal data owners,

Learning whether personal data is processed or not,
If personal data has been processed, requesting information about it,
Learning the purpose of processing personal data and whether they are used in accordance with its purpose,
Knowing the third parties to whom personal data is transferred at home or abroad,
Requesting correction of personal data in case of incomplete or incorrect processing and requesting notification of the transaction made within this scope to the third parties to whom the personal data has been transferred,
Requesting the deletion or destruction of personal data in the event that the reasons requiring its processing have disappeared, despite the fact that it has been processed in accordance with the provisions of the KVK Law and other relevant laws, and requesting the notification of the transaction made within this scope to the third parties to whom the personal data has been transferred,
Objecting to the emergence of a result against the person himself by analyzing the processed data exclusively through automated systems,
In the event that personal data is damaged due to unlawful processing, it has the right to demand the compensation of the damage.
